The WHA membership is open to anyone interested in the North American West. The WHA offers some of the lowest membership rates of professional history organizations. Join today to take advantage of the benefits members enjoy, as well as the opportunity to meet a network of peers enthusiastic about the study of the west. Membership, renewed annually, includes:

Renewal Policy

The Western History Association is now offering an auto-renewal option for members! Due to the limitations of our system, all members will be opted-in for auto-renewal. Renewals will occur on a yearly basis.*

*Renewals occur only through the online payment system. If you have entered in credit card information, your renewal will be processed yearly. If you opt to not renew through the online payment system (i.e. you send a check in the mail instead), your membership will not be automatically renewed. 

To Cancel Auto-Renewal

  1. Login to your MyWHA account 

  2. Click “View Profile” (when you login, you may automatically be in your profile)

  3. Click “Invoices and Payments”

  4. Click the “Stop recurring payments” button beside the membership renewal transaction


To Pay for Multiple Years in Advance 

To pay in advance for WHA membership, you will have to complete each renewal as a separate transaction. 

  1. Login to your MyWHA account

  2. Click “View Profile” 

  3. Under “Membership Details” navigate to the “Renewal due on” section 

  4. Click the grey “Renew button” to renew for an additional year. The button will show a different date, depending on when you first established WHA membership.
